Kat and East Coast co-host Pallavi Yetur were joined by Patreon supporter Shelly Myers and her husband Loggins to break down Beverly Hills, 90210 season 5, episode 18 “Hazardous to Your Health.” Sadly, their cat Brandon Walsh (“In temperament, he’s really more of a Steve Sanders.”) couldn’t be there. While Val and Dylan have a Mexican caper, Kelly and Brandon’s future is in the balance (depending on whether or not Professor Finley can be tenured). Discussed in this episode: hacking on-screen in the “Dilemma” music video, Swordfish, and NCIS. Click here to listen to Pallavi’s previous episodes of The Blaze!
Live, from New York (kinda)! While in NYC, Kat was joined by East Coast co-host Pallavi Yetur and guest Jarod Hector to discuss season five, episode 17 of Beverly Hills, 90210, “Sweating It Out.” Between manual labor and a spiritual sweat session on an Indian reservation, and a full weekend seminar with The New Evolution, this episode has it all. Discussed in this show: Pallavi’s article about Brendan Fraser and The Mummy, the podcast “This Land,” and tragedy at James Arthur Ray’s sweat lodge retreat. Listen to Pallavi and Jarod’s previous episodes of The Blaze!
This past weekend was a medley of Beverly Hills, 90210 friends and fandom! We were proud to be guests of the “With Brian Austin Green” live show fundraiser for Generosity.org, which included a podcast recording with cast members from the series at Torrance High School (the scene of the original West Beverly Hills High School), and a live performance by Color Me Badd. We also got to attend a VIP dinner and U4EA after-party the night before the show, and a lunch at the Peach Pit pop-up with our squad! Visit https://90210blaze.com/episodes/141-the-with-brian-austin-green-live-show for just some of our favorite photos from throughout the weekend.
Kat’s joined this week by guest co-host Kim Hoffman, and #1 fan of “the Dylan show,” Stephanie Hamper. Stephanie supports the podcast on Patreon—the subscription being a Valentine’s Day gift from her husband; swoon—and identifies as a Cindy. Stay tuned after the outro if you want to hear about toothbrush pyramid schemes from a dental professional. In addition to being passionate about Mel Silver’s representation as Beverly Hills, 90210’s resident oral surgeon, Stephanie is a mom who wants to spread the word about pediatric stroke. Learn more, and consider making a donation to support the Children’s Hemiplegia and Stroke Association, in honor of Stephanie’s daughter Sarah.
Also discussed in this episode, the infamous VMA pairing of Milton Berle and RuPaul.
Kat’s joined this week by Pam Myers, whom she and Lizzie first met at a concert featuring performances by Color Me Badd and Kid ‘n Play. She previously appeared on The Blaze for the Beverly Hills, 90210 season four episode “The Time Has Come Today,” and last week’s BH90210 Patreon exclusive recap episode. They’re interviewing Joanna Wilson, the world’s—or, at least, the internet’s—foremost expert on Christmas episodes of television series, whose works on the subject include the “Christmas TV History” podcast and blog, and a number of encyclopedic books.
We’re reeling from the rave-turned-lesbian-house-fire, and so are Kelly and Steve. Luckily, we’re joined again by Julia Cunningham, morning DJ on SiriusXMU, and soon-to-be-cohost of the new entertainment interview series The Jess Cagle Show. Charitable organizations discussed on this episode: Kids in Need of Defense, RAICES. Listen to Julia’s previous episode, season three’s “Back in the High Life Again.”
Well… it happened! Steve Sanders Management has spent the past two decades working to get a reboot or reunion of Beverly Hills 90210 on the air, and a miniseries starring the original cast playing fictionalized versions of themselves has finally premiered. We live-tweeted the premiere episode of BH90210, and were joined for immediate reactions afterwards by Santina Muha, Kim Hoffman, and Mickey Keating.
Be sure to keep up with our live tweets of the West Coast airings of the rest of the series for the next five weeks, 9pm Pacific Time on Fox! Podcast recaps for the episodes will be available for Patreon supporters at the “Les Wildcats” level and above! And if you want to share your reactions or viewing experiences, please send them to us! Our journey through season five of the original series will resume on Monday with the episode “Injustice for All” providing a continuation from the cliffhanger of the previous episode’s lesbian house fire!
We can hardly believe that it's finally here... this Wednesday, August 7—29 years after the premiere of Beverly Hills, 90210, and 19 years after its conclusion—the miniseries reboot, BH90210, will premiere on Fox. We'll be live-tweeting the West Coast premiere at @90210blaze, and releasing our next full-length episode the next day, covering the reboot premiere with some ~friends of the show.~ Recaps of the further episodes of the reboot will be found on our Patreon, and our journey through season 5 of the original series will resume next week! 🤜🤜
Joining us for the original Fyre Fest—the Beverly Hills, 90210 episode where Steve Sanders Management set a rave party ablaze—is the multi-talented Mickey Keating! Mickey is a full-time contributor to Instinct Magazine, and his debut short horror film Daddy’s Girl is available to watch online at Crypt TV. More importantly, he’s a burgeoning game show and talk show prodigy, and you can watch his appearances on Joker’s Wild with Snoop Dogg, and The Wendy Williams Show. His book Paused is available on Amazon.
Kat is joined this week by Blaze family members Kim Hoffman and Leeni Ramadan to scalp tickets to the Rolling Stones show at the Rose Bowl and start an online flame war. This episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 was originally titled “That Voodoo That You Do,” and is not available for streaming on Hulu—so you’ll have to watch it on DVD! Listen to Kim and Leeni’s previous appearances on the podcast. Discussed in this episode:
Lenny Kravitz’s piercer Elayne Angel reminisces about their friendship (NSFW)
Lindy West’s confrontation of one of her internet trolls
Why punctuation has become passive-aggressive

Lizzie and Kat are joined by author, artist, activist, and (former) academic Ebony Adams. She hosts the Feminist Frequency Radio podcast, whose motto is, “Be critical of the media you love,” and coauthored History vs. Women: The Defiant Lives that They Don’t Want You to Know with media critic Anita Sarkeesian. Together we analyze the racially-charged episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 that tackles a controversial, anti-semitic speaker invited to California University, putting the Black Student Union at odds with the Maccabee Center (and Andrea)—with Brandon stuck in the middle.
We are thrilled to discuss this unforgettable episode with Andy Kamenetzky, who originally joined us for the season two episode, “A Competitive Edge.” Andy is a sports reporter for ESPNLA 710, and he and his brother Brian together host the Kamenetzky Podcast. So, that makes him the perfect guest to analyze the gameplay in the KEΓ House flag football tournament at California University—just kidding, the trippy journey through Dylan’s psyche has always made this Andy’s favorite episode of the series. Discussed on this episode:
We’re very grateful that Kat is joined this week by our friend Anna to discuss the season five episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 in which Dylan’s substance abuse is confronted with a staged intervention and catastrophic consequences.
This episode features a frank discussion about mental health, addiction, and chemical dependency, and may be difficult for some listeners. The examples discussed in this interview are solely representative of the individuals speaking, and should not be generalized to apply to the vast diversity of lived experiences. If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, a resource for local support groups can be found at tinyurl.com/90210help.

Scheduling issues are postponing our full length episode about Beverly Hills, 90210 S05E09, “Intervention,” so for now, enjoy a few tidbits about the episode preview, synopsis, guest stars, and recommended viewing.
It’s so exciting for us to finally be joined by Beth and Amy, the sisters behind longtime supporter of the podcast, Greenwich Letterpress! It’s such a delight to discuss the Halloween episode of Beverly Hills 90210 season five with them. Discussed on this episode: the Día de los Muertos movie Coco, the podcast Running From Cops, and Courtney Stodden’s sexy pumpkin patch photoshoot, about which the Daily Mail notes, “The pair were eventually asked to leave the patch by security after they received several complaints from members of the public who found Courtney's attire offensive and her behaviour of a sexual nature.”
This episode is brought to you by The Cocoa Fondue Show. Watch the short before June 24 to help it win the Amazon Studios All Voices Film Festival!

This week, we’re joined for an iconic season 5 episode by our good friend Santina Muha. Listen to Santina’s previous appearances on The Blaze: “Stand (Up) and Deliver,” “Leading from the Heart,” “Something in the Air” (live read), and “Remembering Luke Perry” (clip show). Discussed in this episode: Santina’s short film Take It Back, the 90210 eyeshadow palette (sold out 😿), the extremely “dad joke” autograph of Luke from General Hospital, her memories of meeting Luke Perry, the THNK 1994 Museum, the wild art film that is Jamie Walters’ Levi’s commercial, and The Big One podcast.
We’re flying solo this week to take a serious look at the constitutional crisis following Brandon’s ascension to claim his birthright as the sophomore President of the California University Student Body, after the “shocking” death of his running mate Josh Richland. Well, you know what they say: when you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. This episode of The Blaze podcast features appearances by special guests Lucy Q. and Rick Dees!
This week on The Blaze with Lizzie and Kat podcast, we’re joined once again by our friend John Biersmith. Listen to his previous appearance on the show in the season four episode “The Girl from New York City.” Want to be a guest on The Blaze? Find out how by supporting the show on Patreon! Want to see some Shen Yun memes? Of course you do!
Dylan’s awkwardly signed (with rather feminine handwriting) glamour shot…
…and John’s equally awkward and INCREDIBLE signed portrait for us!
This week, Kat is joined by guest co-hosts Leeni Ramadan and Pallavi M. Yetur. You can hear Leeni and Pallavi’s previous guest appearances on the podcast: “Misery Loves Company” and “Highwire,” respectively. Listen to Leeni’s podcast The Snax of Life and check out her music under the moniker Prom Queen. Follow Pallavi on Twitter.
Well, we took an extra-long hiatus, so we’re back with an extra-extra-long season premiere episode. No guest this week as we took our time to ease in to season five of Beverly Hills, 90210. This episode was recorded over two sessions, both of which were before the passing of Luke Perry, in case you’re wondering why it’s not discussed. If you missed it, you can listen to our memorial episode here. We cover a lot of territory in this episode; if you’re interested in skipping ahead to our discussion of S05E01, “What I Did on My Summer Vacation and Other Stories,” that part starts at about minute 70!
